We all are familiar with the word avatar and its meaning. These days every forum which has active users provides the users with the options to use avatars as their identities or as a way to present themselves to the other members of the forum or the community. Avatars are basically used to give a material structure to the users identity so that they can be differentiated.
The instant messengers that people use also vary from person to person and place to place. These instant messengers used for chatting also provide the users with an option to use an avatar in place of their original display pictures so that users who don’t like to share their own pictures are not let down. There is not much difference between forum avatars and aim avatars.
Both forum avatars and aim avatars serve one common purpose. The basic line of difference that can be drawn between them is that aim avatars are used more actively as compared to forum avatars. Though it would be wrong to say that forum avatar is less used or less active but the fact remains that aim avatars are more widely used the reason being that they are used in instant messengers and it goes without saying instant messengers are much more popular than forums.
Each of them has its own importance and uses and both of them are serving people by providing them a medium to communicate and interact and make new friends so both are equally important.
